Submitted by Marion Fearing on Sun, 06/23/2019 - 1:12pm

Please join us at the Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, June 10th at 7PM to meet Adam Frank, author of the book "Light of the Stars: Alien Worlds and the Fate of the Earth." He will be discussing his fascinating book, which is all about the possibilities of life on other worlds. Adam traces the question of alien life and intelligence from the ancient Greeks to the leading thinkers of our own time, and shows how we can only be successful as a civilization if we recognize what science has recently discovered: that we are just one of ten billion trillion planets in the Universe. This is going to be a wonderful event for any armchair astronomers! Stop by and make sure you get a signed copy!

Adam Frank is a professor of astrophysics at the University of Rochester. He is a co-founder of NPR's 13.7: Cosmos and Culture blog and an on-air commentator for All Things Considered. He also served as the science consultant for Marvel Studio's "Dr. Strange." He lives in Rochester, New York.
